Every day is GREAT at Timber Tops, but July 4th is always especially great, and today is no exception! Despite the rain, we’re having an awesome day.
It all began with CAs donning their best red, white and blue, and waking up the entire camp with whistles, streamers and July 4th cheer. We all headed up to the fitness center for lineup (you should have heard the pledge of allegiance!) and danced, danced, danced. Then, breakfast time! The whole dining hall was decorated with streamers and balloons, and we enjoyed some special holiday treats: chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream, blueberries and strawberries and, of course, in Timber Tops tradition, Krispy Kreme doughnuts (special berry muffins for our gluten-free friends)! The morning continued with indoor relays and games as it continued to pour outside. Next, hot dogs and hamburgers (with special July 4th Peeps!) for lunch, and then back to the bunk for a quick rest before an afternoon scavenger hunt! YES! It stopped raining! After an afternoon of running around outside, we’re headed up to the upper field for our American vs. International counselor soccer game! Campers will cheer on their counselors and the U.S.A! Oh, and we have another special snack planned: root beer floats for all! What’s more American than that?!
After showers and dinner, we have our first Lake Owego Camp brother/sister visitation of the summer! We can’t wait! We’re also excited for all of Lake Owego to come over tonight for fireworks on the upper field. That’s right, we have our very own private fireworks show, and it’s one of the best around!
Check out pictures on CampMinder for the full scoop as usual, and remember to follow us on Facebook too! (Like we have to remind you, Mom!) Have a great holiday!
