It’s hard to believe that it’s been a full week since last lazy day/SFA (Supervised Free Activity) Day, but it has been! Thursdays in Greeley are the greatest! We sleep late, and then we PLAY! It’s a day of free choice, a chance to relax and regroup. The pool is open, the lake is open, activities are open, but the girls can opt to just hang, to read under a tree, to make friendship bracelets with friends on the dining hall porch, to watch the world go by.
Today was an EXTRA special SFA day, because the Juniors went to COSTA’S FAMILY FUN PARK! We love Costa’s because it’s a family-run, local (8 miles down the road!) and FUN! We give our campers passes for the go carts, bumper boats, mini golf, batting cages, water slides, and the arcade. We also buy each camper an ice cream cone, of course. We’re not monsters! The campers had the BEST time, and they were happy to spend the morning on this extra-special outing.
It did rain during lunch today, so our Thursday outdoor grove lunch was a little wetter than we would have liked, but a little rain never hurt anyone! In fact, the rain significantly lowered the temperatures in Greeley, and the afternoon ended up a comfortable 77 degrees. Not too shabby! Speaking of “cool,” our Top Cooks headed out of camp in the afternoon to an ice sculpture studio and enjoyed a lesson there. Pretty cool indeed!
Tonight is a great night at camp (aren’t they all?)! For the Seniors, we have a social with the boys from Lake Owego! Kelli Moshen, our artist in residence for the week (and founder of Project Moshen Dance Company), is spicing up the social by teaching everyone some dances. And Juniors are playing Minute to Win It! So fun!
That’s about all from camp for today! Tune in tomorrow for what is sure to be another beautiful day in downtown Greeley!
