Howdy, Friends and Neighbors!
It’s been a beautiful, hot, sunny day at camp. But we bet it’s not nearly as hot here in Greeley as it is where you are! Ordinarily, it’s about 10-15 degrees cooler here in the mountains than it is in NYC (only 80 miles away). It feels much cooler than that with the breeze and the shade, too. Today was a scorcher at 90 degrees, and we spent a lot of time in the lake and at the pool.
Our oldest campers, our 11th grade CAs, set off on their Timber Trek! Every year, it’s optional, and this year every single one of our 11th graders decided to participate! Today was canoeing Bushkill Falls to Worthington State Forest where they’ll camp, to sunrise at Sunfish Pond, and then a 7mile hike on the Appalachian Trail before coming home to us tomorrow night. We’re so excited for these awesome, adventurous girls! Talk about memories to last a lifetime.
The rest of camp was buzzing and hopping with basketball classes, tennis lessons in motion, aerobics with Mike, basket weaving in Arts & Crafts, outdoor cooking, Wibit fun, zip lining in adventure and so much more!
For lunch we ate under the pines in the grove, enjoying a traditional camp cookout, and for dinner tonight it’s manocotti and stuffed shells – yum!
Tonight’s evening program will be adventure challenge for juniors (bunk team building in the ropes course), and all other campers will be bonding elsewhere in camp. Who doesn’t love a good ice breaker!
All in all, life is good in Greeley!
