SFA! ALL THE WAY!

Hey, Friends and Followers! What a day! What a life!

This morning, our Polar Bears went out for round two (of three) in Lake Selma while the rest of us enjoyed LATE SLEEP! That’s right, on Thursdays (and Mondays) we sleep late, an hour late to be exact. Ordinarily, wakeup is at 7:45AM. On Thursdays and Mondays, wakeup is at 8:45AM. Many sleep late, but even those who don’t sleep late enjoy quiet morning downtime in the bunk. Who doesn’t love to lounge in bed, read, write letters or make a friendship bracelet! And it was a perfectly crisp morning, too! On Monday late sleep days, after breakfast and lineup, we go right into regular scheduled programming (and just skip first period), Thursdays are what we call “SFA” or Supervised Free Activity. They’re more relaxing, low-key days around camp. And today was our first SFA Day!

Supervised Free Activity or “SFA” days at CTT are an opportunity for campers to participate in choice activities all day, all over camp. Been wanting to get in an extra game of pickle ball? Working on that back handspring? Still conquering the Wibit in the lake? Finishing up a ceramics project? Camp is your oyster! Prefer to hang with friends outside the bunk? Yo go, girl! Now’s your chance!

In addition to free choice on Thursdays, we often plan extra-special happenings on SFA days. Today, we took turns out of camp and hit the road (7 miles down the road to be exact) to Costa’s Family Fun Park with our Juniors (2nd through 6th graders)! Costa’s is SO much fun, and everyone received a wrist band for mini golf, go-carts, water slides, ice cream and so much more! We had a blast!

A few other highlights today:

1- 8th graders began Survivor! More on that to come!

2- We had our first grove lunch! On Thursdays we sit outside on picnic tables in the grove and enjoy a cookout!

3- Tonight, Juniors play “Panic” (a Timber Tops fan favorite) and seniors have their first (pajama themed!) social with Lake Owego Camp!

Time flies when you’re having fun, and this week sure is flying! Tune in tomorrow for more Timber Talk from down the winding road!
