THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP: Everything You Need to Know!

Hi Parents!

Welcome to the first of many 2015 Timber Tops real-time summer blogs! Here we hope you’ll find all kinds of helpful information, so tune in often.

Wondering what happened after the bus pulled away from your neighborhood this morning? Read on!

At about 1PM, we had a much-anticipated camp lunch together in the dining hall! (Don’t worry- if your camper was late, we kept lunch out all afternoon!) Though it’s always a beautiful day in Greeley because of the people, most literally, weather-wise, it’s been less than beautiful so far. This 60 degree, rainy day called for a rainy day fan favorite: grilled cheese and tomato soup (Greek salad, tuna salad and hummus too)! We warmed up over lunch together and, of course, sang some good, old-fashioned camp songs! “We welcome you to Timber Tops, we’re mighty glad you’re here” resonated through the dining hall and gave our new campers confidence as they headed back to the bunk to unpack.

The afternoon was met with setting up bunks, ice-breakers, and health checks. Seniors chose their schedules for the week, and juniors met to learn about their schedules, talk about the summer and sing some camp songs! Now we’re all ready to hit the ground running for our first full day of camp tomorrow!

Tonight, Chinese food for dinner! Beef, chicken, and tofu stir-fry and lo mein, steamed buns, egg rolls, steamed veggies and salad bar, of course. After dinner is the big show: the 2015 staff show, that is! We can’t wait to see our counselors get on stage and perform for us. We’ll also find out some until-now top-secret information like the camp song of the summer and the first session play! Stay tuned as we reveal both in tomorrow’s blog! Tonight, we’re all in camp, making rounds, telling stories, and tucking in 300 excited girls.

All in all, it’s been a great day down the winding road, and the best is yet to come.

Love from Greeley, Mom and Dad! So far, so good! Thumbs up!
