Timber Tops Tuesday is Here!
Happy Timber Tops Tuesday, friends and followers! Did you know that during the year, many of our older campers celebrate Tuesdays by posting camp photos on social media with #TimberTopsTuesday? Go ahead and check it out – it’s a great way to feel the camp spirit from afar. But you know what’s even better than #TimberTopsTuesday? Experiencing Timber Tops Tuesday in person! At camp! No phones. No social media. Just the real deal: camp friends, camp fun, and camp magic on a sunny Tuesday in Greeley. And what a spectacular Timber Tops Tuesday it’s been to kick off the summer!
We started the morning with a delicious breakfast sandwich bar (yum!) complete with eggs, cheese, English muffins, turkey bacon, tater tots and more! Around camp, things are in full swing. Campers zipped down the ropes course, biked up Lily Lane, cooked mountain pies over an open fire, practiced for the play, paddle boated, and 8th graders even picked the cabaret theme for this summer (it’s still under wraps – shhhh!)! Eighth graders also participated in their first “survivor” competition where each bunk competes against the other in team-building challenges that happen throughout the summer! Oh, and in big news: we sorted and sent out our first laundry of the season today! We love laundry!
But the real highlight is happening tonight: the BIG/LITTLE SISTER CAMPFIRE – one of our most beloved Timber Tops traditions.
Here’s how it works:
First-time campers, no matter their age, are matched with a big sister. Returning campers get a little sister. For the past few days, big sisters have been leaving notes, tokens, and clues for their littles, building excitement for tonight’s reveal.
At the campfire, little sisters gather and wait as big sisters, holding candles, walk towards them singing:
“Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold.”
Big sisters find their little sisters, and together they make a wish for the summer before blowing out their candles. Then they sit side by side at the campfire, getting to know each other and singing traditional Timber Tops campfire songs under the Greeley sky.
It’s our first campfire of the season, and we’re bursting with excitement for this memorable night down the winding road.
Check Campanion tomorrow for highlights – we can’t wait to share the magic with you!
